The River Foss is an improved river in North Yorkshire, England, and a tributary of the River Ouse. It rises at Oulston reservoir at Yearsley and runs south through the Vale of York to York itself, which stands on the confluence between the Ouse and the Foss. Improvement works were promoted by Acts of Parliament in 1793 and 1801 which sought to make the Foss navigable as far as Sheriff Hutton. It is navigable for just over a mile from Monks Bridge (over the A1036 road) to Blue Bridge in the centre of York where it joins the Ouse.
high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) is a set of techniques that allow a far greater dynamic range of exposures (i.e. a large difference between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to the deepest shadows [wikipedia}

the voice of big brother

Britain will fit more surveillance cameras with loudspeakers allowing security staff to berate people spotted dropping litter, fighting or vandalizing property.
Council chiefs in Middlesbrough, where the cameras have already been installed and tester, said they had helped cut littering, vandalism and fights.
The privacy watchdog warned last November that Britain was turning into a “surveillance society”.
Britain is the most watched country in the world, with an estimated 4.2 million CCTV cameras, or one for every 14 people.
The government already faces accusations that the national computer database of personal details and the planned identity cards will increase state intrusion into people’s lives. Read more on IHT or BBC
George Orwell [whose real surname was... Blair!] wouldn’t be surprised to know that even his house is constantly watched by ‘his’ big brother. Since cctv’s cannot smell there will be peace for weed smokers, unless smoking en plein air will be forbidden.
